Project Crowning Glory
The Parthenon Chapter of The Links, Inc., as well as other chapters in the Nashville area cluster, worked together to collect, clean and sort attractive high quality wigs which, In collaboration with the American Cancer Society, were then distributed to women throughout Tennessee. The next phase of the project was to focus on 13 women whose age ranged from early 30s to mid-80s, and came from a variety of backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. These women were transformed into ‘13 Divas’ with professional wig selection and a makeover. The women were then treated to an exclusive photo session with photographer Lucius Outlaw. The result was a mobile photographic exhibition designed to promote community awareness about cancer among African American women in Nashville and surrounding counties.
